There is much controversy today over whether vaccinations are safe for children. The medical profession insists that vaccines are safe and should be given to all children. Public schools demand to see vaccination records before enrolling a child. Yet, a growing number of parents fear there may be a link between vaccines and autism, juvenile diabetes, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, asthma, and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
Vaccines Cause Autism in Some Children
It may be hard to separate the facts from the fear, and the truth is that there is very little actual research being done to either prove or disprove the potential danger of vaccinations! And recently, the family of Hannah Poling won a large settlement in their law suit that vaccines caused her autism. She had been a normal, happy and precocious 18 month old, when her doctor gave her nine vaccines in one office visit. Her health quickly deteriorated. She developed high fevers, loss of appetite, and autistic behaviors. The report is quick to point out that she had a previous existing genetic condition that caused the severe reaction… but the parents did not know of this condition until it was too late.
Too Many Vaccines May Overwhelm the Infant Immune System
Next came the Polio vaccine in 1955, and then the measles, mumps, rubella vaccines in the 1960s. In 1971 the smallpox vaccine was deemed no longer necessary – the disease had been eradicated! Children received only seven vaccines for all of the Seventies and most of the Eighties, although vaccine research continued.
Then, from the 1990s onward, one or more vaccines were added to the schedule annually so that today, 49 vaccines in twelve doses are administered to children from birth and six years of age, and 69 vaccines in 16 doses by age 18.
Vaccinated Children Have Two to Five Times More Diseases than Unvaccinated Children
In an ongoing study of 17,000 children, those where were vaccinated have up to 500% more disease than unvaccinated children. These health issues include asthma, allergies, bronchitis, tonsillitis, eczema, ear infections, diabetes, bed wetting, dyslexia, migraines, sleep disorders, ADHD, epilepsy, depression and delayed development.
In a New Zealand study, none of the unvaccinated children had asthma, while 25% of the vaccinated ones did.
Vaccines Contain Harmful Ingredients
A growing number of doctors and medical experts link the mercury in vaccines to the autism epidemic. Mercury is so dangerous, that pregnant women are cautioned not to eat too much fish during their pregnancy, yet doctors continue to administer vaccines to infants and toddlers that have thimerosal – a mercury compound that is used as a preservative. Mercury poisoning affects the developing nervous system. It is interesting to note that the Amish have not had one reported case of autism, and many experts believe it is because they do not have their children vaccinated.
In recent years, mercury has been removed from all childhood vaccines, but it is still present in the flu vaccine.
Aluminum, a known neurotoxin, is present in many vaccines. It is a heavy metal, and very small amounts can cause allergic reactions, brain damage and death. It has also been linked to autism.
Other common ingredients in childhood vaccines include formaldehyde, human albumin, bovine cow serum, sorbitol, sodium chloride, phenoxyethanol, aluminum phosphate, aluminum hydroxide, egg protein, and gelatin. Not a one of these ingredients is free from adverse effects – not even the egg protein, which may contain growth hormones, antibiotics, and salmonella.
An Alternative to Vaccines
To help boost your child’s immune system, you may want to include almonds in your child’s diet – if he is not allergic to nuts. Almonds contain zinc, which aids immune function.
Give your child probiotics – in moderation. While many believe probiotics help to restore healthy bacteria and build immune function, there has not been any significant research yet.
Teach sanitation! Careful and thorough hand washing can do more to prevent the spread of disease than anything. Many viruses and bacteria are first introduced to the body from the hands. We rub our eyes, touch our nose, lick our fingertips… thus introducing pathogens into our system. Careful hand washing destroys these pathogens.
The Ultimate Decision is Yours
The choice to vaccinate or not vaccinate your child should be up to you – the informed parent. Do not blithely listen to your doctor’s instructions as though it came from an almighty power… but do not be swayed by fear or misinformation. Continue to monitor all studies, research the issues for yourself, and then decide what is right for you and your child.
