We usually feel things with our fingers
some things feel soft, hard, rough, smooth, bumpy, slimy, scratchy, etc.
we can feel happy or sad
we feel pain
when people say hello or good-bye, they may touch, shake hands, [...]

Posted by Lorelei  Published in food, health & safety

Extended Rear Facing Car Seats

Posted by Lorelei  Published in health & safety, parenting

When I was a child, there were no car safety seats. We didn’t wear helmets when we rode our tricycles. We didn’t have curving slides that kept you from falling off at the top platform. We played on teeter-totters that are now nearly obsolete. We climbed trees, skipped rocks, jumped off [...]

Raising a Budget Baby in a Consumerist World
I hesitated to write this article, as the focus of my blog is on toddler and preschool age children, but I’ve been asked for advice on this topic often enough to guess that it still might be relevant for some of you. The big question is, what [...]

Taste

Posted by Lorelei  Published in lessons

This week you and your child will explore the sense of taste. Your young child can learn:

We have taste buds on our tongues that tell us how things taste
Each food has a particular taste
Some foods taste sweet, or salty, or sour, or bitter. Some foods combine these tastes.
We may add spices and seasonings to [...]

Sight

Posted by Lorelei  Published in lessons

This week you and your child will focus on Sight, one of the five senses. Young children can learn:

we see with our eyes.
We learn things by seeing with our eyes.
We need light to help us see.
When it is very dark, we cannot see.
Some people need glasses to to help them see better.
We need [...]
